Our Standard Precautions course gives caregivers clear, practical steps to keep residents safe and themselves protected every single shift. We focus on real-world adult care situations, not theory, so what you learn in class is exactly what you use at the bedside.
You will practice proper hand hygiene, glove and gown use, safe handling of blood and body fluids, sharps safety, and effective cleaning and disinfection routines. We walk through how infections spread in a care home, how to break that chain, and how to respond if there is an exposure or accident.
Because we work daily with adults who have physical disabilities, we show you how these precautions fit into bathing, toileting, transfers, feeding, and medication assistance. By the end of training, you will know how to protect vulnerable residents while still providing warm, respectful personal care.
This state-aligned course supports CBRF and adult family home staff, new caregivers entering the field, and family members who help loved ones at home in Milwaukee.
